Under the Michigan Clean Energy and Jobs Act of 2023, residential homeowners and solar developers do not need to obtain final permitting approval from the Michigan Public Service Commission for solar projects that have a capacity of 50 Megawatts or less. Each electrical provider regulated by the Michigan Public Service Commission must achieve a renewable energy credit portfolio of of at least 15% through 2027, 50% in 2030 through 2034, 80% in 2035 through 2039 and a 100% clean energy portfolio by 2040.

ATTENTION ALL POTENTIAL SOLAR INSTALLERS: Buena Vista Charter Township's Solar Facilities Ordinance requires all rooftop mounted solar energy systems to be limited to five (5) feet above roof surface and not to exceed the roof ridge. Ground mounted solar energy solar energy systems are limited to fifteen (15) feet in height. Please ensure all proposed models and installations meet this requirement in order to pass building and electrical inspections.
