BV and the 2020 Census
Once a decade, America comes together to count every resident in the United States, creating national awareness of the importance of the census and its valuable statistics. The decennial census was first taken in 1790, as mandated by the Constitution. It counts our population and households, providing the basis for reapportioning congressional seats, redistricting, and distributing more than $675 billion in federal funds annually to support states, counties and communities’ (such as Buena Vista) vital programs — impacting housing, education, transportation, employment, health care and public policy. BV must be counted, completely and accurately to be represented!
Buena Vista Charter Township is looking for volunteers to join the BV Complete Count Committee (BVCCC) to increase awareness and motivate residents to respond to the upcoming 2020 Census. The BVCCC will serve as the township’s “census ambassador” group that helps maximize participation and response rates by increasing awareness during the 2020 Census. The committee will help ensure a complete and accurate count of the Buena Vista Community in the 2020 Census.
Buena Vista Charter Township is hosting a "Applicant Day" to make applying for a Census job easier for BV residents who are interested in working for the 2020 U.S. Census. The Applicant Day is scheduled for WENDESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2019, starting at 9:00 am. All you need to bring is your driver's license and a resume if you have one.
